The aspens on Kebler Pass are dense and seem to go on as far as you can see. In late September, it is a stunning blanket of yellow and gold. Paired with rocky mountain peaks and the always-green pines, it feels impossible to look away. Because of this, the fall colors bring people over to Kebler in the masses.
Part of what makes the fall colors along KEBLER PASS so special is the presence of the state’s largest aspen grove and what some scientists call the world’s largest living organism. It’s located within the Gunnison National Forest between Crested Butte and Paonia.
