The Carrot Man site which could be 4,000 years old., is in the Canyon Pintado (the Painted Canyon) National Historic District which encompasses a series of rock art sites along 15 miles of State Highway 139 in Rio Blanco County, Colorado. People have occupied the canyon for a minimum of 11,000 years and the rock art comes from a number of those cultures. The sites include Fremont, Ute and Barrier Canyon styles of paintings and petroglyphs.
